Understanding Autism
There is an interesting and complex history of autism. The condition has many controversies. The program will discuss many of the challenges facing these individuals in the community. Behavior guidance skills and an understanding of the related medications are essential. Throughout the presentation numerous references to the dental office will be made.

Dr. Robert E. Rada, DDS, MBA, is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Oral Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry. He also maintains a private practice in LaGrange, Illinois, focusing on patients with special needs. His practice serves individuals of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities and includes advanced behavior management, anesthesia care, and hospital dentistry. Dr. Rada has facilitated many live-patient courses to help dentists and dental students learn to care for patients with special needs. He teaches in the Group Practice Clinics at University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry, where dental students rotate through his private practice, and directs the Special Care Dentistry Track.
